As more and more information is being released about global warming and how we are all putting a strain on the Earth do to our natural resource consumption, a renewed effort has been put on being green and protecting the environment in all aspects of our lives.
While there are a number of different things people should adopt personally as habits to help save the planet, businesses have also become more conscious of how they can be greener. One of the main ways is through energy efficient LED lighting being installed in brick and mortar stores, malls and other establishments, among other efficient lighting solutions.
Below are three benefits of installing energy efficient LED lighting in your commercial location.
Benefit #1: It Saves the Environment
Energy efficient LED lighting helps to protect the environment as it consumes far less electricity than the standard lamps or fluorescent lights that are currently in most commercial business locations. Many LED lamps release 75% less energy than incandescent lamps on average and generate very little heat when compared to incandescent and CFL lamps, which release anywhere between 80 and 90 percent of their energy as heat.
This means less energy is expended in general, leaving more energy for everyone else and allowing us to destroy the Earth less to get to that energy.
Benefit #2: LED Lamps Cost Less in Energy Bills
LED lighting costs tremendously less than incandescent lamps, which are standard in most commercial locations. Just to give a sense of how much cheaper they are, widespread use of LED lamps by the year 2027 in the equivalent of 44 large electric power plants would save more than 30 billion dollars based on today’s rising electrical prices.
When you break this down to individual commercial locations, you’re talking a few hundred dollars a month on electrical bills—but this really adds up over time, especially for a smaller business that has narrower margins.
Benefit #3: LED Lamps Last Longer
LED lighting lasts 25 times longer than incandescent lamps, meaning even less money is spent replacing these LED lamps when they burn out or malfunction. While they are more expensive to buy than any other lights, they quickly make up for their expense with how much money they save in electrical bills and the fact that they are worth at least ten to twenty incandescent lamps. Money and time are also saved by store employees or maintenance workers having to replace the lamps.
